Job Overview: The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent with managing day-to-day outside operations. This full-time, year-round position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality course conditions, supporting daily operations, and enhancing the overall player experience at Quail Ridge. With the quality of the golf course as a Quail Ridge’s top priority, the Assistant Superintendent works with the Superintendent to create year-round maintenance programs and ensures all programs in place are executed in a timely efficient, and timely fashion. This position is responsible for assisting with oversight of daily course operations, including overseeing and executing all construction projects, safety programs, and daily operations. The Assistant Superintendent works directly with the Superintendent to develop the daily work schedule and coordinate related activities and necessary equipment with the staff. The Assistant Superintendent trains, supervises, and performs performance reviews for all outside staff.  Job Duties & Expectations (included below but are not limited to): General Promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and effective communications. Assist in all safety training needs and procedures, including the completion of all required documentation. Work with the Superintendent and other key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and compound, in addition to all safety programs.  Ensure consistent course playability and quality standards.  Maintain a professional presence when interacting with golfers, staff, and community partners.  Maintains cleanliness and organization of all facilities and equipment.  Works flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as required by course conditions and tournament schedule.  Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and policies.  Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the General Manager and the Superintendent.          Planning & Budgeting (Turf Management Plan, Maintenance Plan, etc) Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of the Quail Ridge Turf Management Plan (TMP). Works with the Superintendent to create and implement a preventative maintenance program.  Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of maintenance. Participate in long-term planning for turf health, equipment needs, tools, etc.  Create and execute budgets.  Course Operations (Maintenance, Equipment, & Management) Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use, completing inspection and walk through checklists, while reporting any issues promptly.  Operate a triplex mower and any other golf course maintenance equipment.  Ability to rake sand bunkers.   Good working knowledge of chemical and fertilizer applications including calibration, scheduling, and environmental compliance.  Performance of necessary maintenance on a variety of equipment in an efficient and safe manner including mowers, tractors, UTV’s, aerators, top dressers, etc.  Monitor course conditions and report issues related to turf health, irrigation, drainage, issues, or hazards to the Superintendent.  Must hold comprehensive knowledge and be able to troubleshoot problems regarding golf course irrigation systems or be willing to learn. Assist in all irrigation operation, maintenance, and repair.  Set up and maintain the golf course with flags, cups, tee markers, signage, and any other item directed by supervisor.  Personnel Helps oversee maintenance staff, provide direction, support, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.  Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to squat or bend to move tee markers or other debris from the turf.  Able to work weekends and early morning shifts.  Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.  Reliable.  Strong organization skills and attention to detail.   Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and materials. Flexibility to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.

 Miromar lakes golf club is currently looking for a motivated and energetic AIT to join our team.  The golf course was designed by Art Hills, and opened in 2001. The course was renovated in 2017 by Drew Rogers.   The course closes July and August for renovations and cultural practices.  This summer the driving range will be completely renovated.   Plans are currently underway to build an additional maintenance building and renovate the existing facility. The responsibilities of the AIT include irrigation tasks, project supervision and extensive IPM duties.  The perspective candidate will have exposure to all aspects of warm season turf management, landscape management and crew supervision.  Typical work week are 40-45 hours with one weekend shift a month.

Interns will be directly involved with the day-to-day maintenance of an 18-hole private championship Donald Ross-designed golf course (poa/ bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways) and a 9-hole Par 3 Course (warm season Tahoma 31 fairways and tees, and bentgrass putting greens).  Interns will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistants in planning, scheduling, and daily operating procedures.  Calibration, pesticide applications, fertilizing, water management, course setup, and cultural practices will be the core of the internship.  This position will allow the individual to get their “feet wet” in all aspects of golf course maintenance.  The opportunity to lead small crews and motivate staff members will help interns prepare for their next step as an Assistant-In-Training or Assistant Superintendent.  Candidates can expect to work typically 50-60 hours per week with every other weekend OFF.

Position Summary Under general supervision, the Equipment Manager repairs all equipment associated with course maintenance department. Responsibilities also include planning and implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment, training staff in safe use and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment. Job Description Reporting Structure:  The Golf Course Superintendent reports to the Director of Agronomy.  Under the guidance of the Director, the Superintendent and the Director work as a team to provide the guidance and direction to the GCM team.   Summary: We are looking for a dynamic leader who possesses the technical skills, as well as the people management skills to succeed as our new Golf Course Superintendent.  The successful candidate will maintain the golf course and related golf course equipment by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned: Schedules, trains, supervises all employees assigned to the department. Maintains accurate work records for all employees in the department. Supervises all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees and other facilities on the golf course. Supervises operation of the equipment repair shop. Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna. Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems. Maintains course in proper playing condition. Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees, members and guests on the golf course in compliance with local, state and federal laws. Communicates as necessary with Golf, Tennis and Fitness professionals to discuss conditions of the facilities, maintenance plans and scheduled events. Communicates as necessary with Grounds, Golf, Fitness, House and any other applicable Committees. Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.  Maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of these products. Attends staff and management meetings, turf conferences, equipment shows, workshops and other educational programs to maintain a current knowledge of technical and turf innovations and changes that may affect the department’s operations.
