Job Overview: The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent with managing day-to-day outside operations. This full-time, year-round position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality course conditions, supporting daily operations, and enhancing the overall player experience at Quail Ridge. Works with the Superintendent to create and implement a preventative maintenance program. Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of maintenance. Participate in long-term planning for turf health, equipment needs, tools, etc. Create and execute budgets. Course Operations (Maintenance, Equipment, & Management) Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use, completing inspection and walk through checklists, while reporting any issues promptly. Operate a triplex mower and any other golf course maintenance equipment. Ability to rake sand bunkers. Good working knowledge of chemical and fertilizer applications including calibration, scheduling, and environmental compliance. Performance of necessary maintenance on a variety of equipment in an efficient and safe manner including mowers, tractors, UTV’s, aerators, top dressers, etc. Monitor course conditions and report issues related to turf health, irrigation, drainage, issues, or hazards to the Superintendent. Must hold comprehensive knowledge and be able to troubleshoot problems regarding golf course irrigation systems or be willing to learn. Assist in all irrigation operation, maintenance, and repair. Set up and maintain the golf course with flags, cups, tee markers, signage, and any other item directed by supervisor. Personnel Helps oversee maintenance staff, provide direction, support, and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner. Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to squat or bend to move tee markers or other debris from the turf. Able to work weekends and early morning shifts. Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently. Reliable. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with maintenance tools, equipment, and materials. Flexibility to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.
