As soon as the Student Intern arrives, the team at Indian Creek starts by identifying individualized areas of enrichment to help the student become a more viable Assistant Superintendent Candidate for potential employers after graduation. Primary areas of Student Intern enrichment and growth include: 1.      Spray programs- comprehensive experience in the development of spray programs, applying, calculating and inventory management. Learn to operate the latest GPS John Deere sprayers. 2.      Putting Green Management- comprehensive experience in hand watering, vertical mowing, aeration, speed management, and topdressing programs. 3.      Fairway Management: comprehensive experience in fairway aeration, organic matter and thatch management, heavy topdressing programs, and more. 4.      Rough Management: comprehensive experience in bermudagrass scalping procedures. 5.      Tee Management: experience in intricate Zoysia tee top management, aeration, moisture management, bermudagrass eradication, and topdressing program. 6.      Equipment Fleet: be exposed to and spend time with our equipment manager and state of the art equipment fleet. Indian Creek will be receiving new equipment in April 2026 from John Deere and Toro. 7.      Irrigation Management: learn to operate our state-of-the-art Irrigation System equipped with the latest RainBird ICM system and Cirrus Pro, new HDPE irrigation pipe and fittings and Tee Specific irrigation installation summer 2026. 8.      Drainage: experience sump pump and seepage drainage installation for fairway turf and learn how firm and fast is created.  9.      Life-Work Balance: surround yourself with a Management Team working in their profession at the highest level that understand how to maintain healthy lives outside of work.   The capstone of the internship program takes place when each Student Superintendent is responsible for the management of the golf maintenance crew during their last week of employment, as the acting Assistant Superintendent.

As an intern at Dedham Country and Polo Club you will participate in a diverse range of activities involving every aspect of daily golf course maintenance and numerous course improvement projects. Including pesticide applications, top dressing, hand watering, golf course setup and supervising small crews. You will work closely with and report to the Golf Course Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendents. Upon completion of a successful internship/education, full time positions can be made available.

Winnetka Golf Club is currently seeking highly motivated turfgrass interns to join our team for the 2026 season. Located on the north shore of Chicago, Winnetka Golf Club is a premier 27 hole public golf facility, featuring an 18 hole championship golf course, as well as a challenging 9 hole par 3 course. The 2nd assistant will play a crucial role in the overall care of both of these golf courses.    About the club: Winnetka golf club was originally designed by William Langford in 1917. The club later built a 9 hole par 3 course on newly acquired land on the south end of the property. The entire property was closed for the better part of 18 months to undergo a full renovation, and opened up to the public again in the fall of 2024. The project was intended to address serious water retention issues, and was consulted on by the army corps of engineers. Led by architect Rick Jacobson, the entire property was stripped of its turf, and recontoured to provide a new challenging playing experience for its patrons.    Changes made during the project include: Newly contoured fairways New green expansions, allowing for more pin locations Addition of multiple new forward and back tees Crystal blue links fairways, tees, and approaches 007/poa greens  Entirely new bunkering New drainage system Significantly improved rainbird irrigation system    Interns will be responsible for many aspects of golf course maintenance, including but not limited to:   All daily maintenance functions on the golf course including mowing, course setup, and moisture management Introduction to small group management, with opportunities to fully lead small scale golf course improvement projects Introduction to spraying, and granular fertilizer applications Irrigation troubleshoot and repair High level role related to cultural practice, with an emphasis on firm, fast conditioning Data collection and recordkeeping   Interns will also play a key role in the implementation of a beta version AI turf assistant program. We are currently one of only a handful of clubs nationwide beta testing this program, and results will dictate a large-scale roll out of the product in the short term.   Above all else, we are seeking someone with a strong work ethic and desire to have a career as a golf course superintendent. Houston Country Club was founded in 1908. The golf course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.  The club is set to under a full golf course construction project led by architect Andrew Green starting in July 2026. The project includes new TifEagle bermudagrass greens, Stadium Zoysia tees, fairways and approaches, 419 bermudagrass rough, and a new Toro irrigation system. The earth work is being completed by McDonald & Sons with irrigation design by EC Design and installation by Liebold Irrigation. Interns will be exposed to all facets of construction and grow in. Interns will be given ample opportunity to grow and learn during the construction process.

Fertilizer and chemical applications (proper calibration and techniques). Proper course set up (daily hole locations, tee locations and detail work). Cultural practices (topdressing, aerification, moisture management, etc.) Irrigation maintenance (irrigation head fixes, pipe repairs, locating/troubleshooting wiring issues).
