Facilities Manager – The Opportunity The Country Club of New Canaan is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, functionality, and overall presentation of club facilities. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the clubhouse and supporting infrastructure operate efficiently, safely, and at a high standard for membership enjoyment. Club Highlights Typical Work Schedule: January: Clubhouse closed for major maintenance projects (5 days/week, 32–40 hours) February–December: Clubhouse open Schedule varies: Monday–Friday or Tuesday–Saturday depending on operational needs 32–40 hours per week with flexibility for projects and urgent needs Future Projects: Planned construction of a $10M Golf Maintenance Facility in Fall 2027, with the candidate having exposure to and involvement in the project. Ongoing clubhouse maintenance and capital improvement initiatives. Equipment: Standard facility maintenance tools and equipment Success Traits of Individual Strong general maintenance knowledge across multiple disciplines Demonstrates reliability and job stability Flexible and adaptable schedule to meet club needs Detail-oriented with pride in maintaining high facility standards Proactive mindset with preventative maintenance focus Strong work ethic and team-first attitude A diligent observer with a keen eye for small details and opportunities for improvement Initial Priorities of Position Establish consistent preventative maintenance practices Conduct routine walkthroughs to ensure facility appearance and quality Address and maintain plumbing, painting, HVAC, hardware, and kitchen equipment Quickly respond to maintenance needs across all club areas Ensure all systems are functioning efficiently and safely Train other departments on best practices to prevent damage. For example, provide guidance to the Food & Beverage team on properly using the freight elevator when transporting tables to avoid collisions and potential damage Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude Perform general maintenance including painting, drywall repair, and minor construction tasks Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify and address repair needs Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures such as faucets, toilets, and piping systems Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform minor repairs or installations Repair and maintain doors, windows, locks, and hardware throughout the facility Support setup and breakdown of club events, equipment, and furniture Complete work orders in a timely and organized manner Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in clean, organized condition Collaborate with contractors and vendors on larger projects or repairs Ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards Perform additional maintenance-related duties as needed Reduce our reliance on immediately calling external support by first utilizing and maximizing our internal resources to address issues Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in facilities maintenance, handyman, or similar role Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems HVAC experience is a plus Ability to safely operate hand and power tools Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Good communication and interpersonal skills High school diploma or vocational certification preferred Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $75,000 – $90,000 Bonus opportunities Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Plan Paid Time Off / Vacation Uniforms provided Free meals Golfing privileges About Us The Country Club of New Canaan is a family-oriented club built on integrity, trust, and a strong sense of community.
