  Victoria National Golf Club is seeking an Assistant in Training (AIT) to join our management team. We are an 18 hole private club with a primarily national membership. Designed by Tom Fazio the course has continuously been ranked in multiple top 100 lists since inception and is currently ranked number one in Indiana. Located in the southwest corner of the state, it’s the only cool-season facility in the region. Greens, tees, and fairways are grassed with L-93 Bentgrass. Our rough is primarily Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass. Dew paths and intermediates are Perennial Ryegrass and HGT Bluegrass. Our turf types combined with our climate provide a unique opportunity to learn elite course presentation in an extremely challenging environment. We are fortunate to have ownership that understands what is needed to maintain a course of our caliber. We are closed annually from late November to early April to perform all turf cultivation practices as well as architectural and construction updates. Position Overview The AIT will work directly with Assistant Superintendents and the Director of Agronomy, and is considered a key member of the management team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all agronomic practices, construction projects, scheduling of staff, as well as long and short term planning. It is our goal to prepare you for a successful career as a Superintendent or Director of Agronomy. Over the last three years we have helped place three of our assistants into Superintendent positions at well-regarded clubs in the region. Victoria National is part of a network of seven private clubs that make up the Dormie Network. This provides the opportunity to travel to other clubs and experience different turf varieties as well as management styles should you desire.

Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is situated in the heart of the historic community of Rancho Santa Fe, just 20 miles north of San Diego. This private, 18-hole championship course is exclusively available to homeowners within the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant.  The Assistant-In-Training reports directly to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent(s).  Under the Assistant Superintendent's supervision, the Assistant-In-Training leads small crews and participates in the maintenance of the golf course and landscape areas.  The Assistant-In-Training will be responsible for proper fertilization, pesticide application, equipment calibration, and assist in irrigation monitoring and repair. While conducting day to day maintenance, the AIT is learning and understanding the managerial decisions made to achieve necessary results. This is a key role in the department and the goal of the AIT is to eventually move into an Assistant Superintendent role.  The Assistant-In-Training may serve in the 2nd Assistant Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.

Winged Foot Golf Club is a private club with two 18-hole golf courses located in Mamaroneck, NY and is located just 20 miles north of NYC.  A.W. Tillinghast designed the two championship caliber golf courses. The club was opened for play in 1923, and will be hosting the U.S. Open Championship in 2028. We are currently looking for an Assistant-in-Training to be an integral part of our team leading up to and including the U.S. Open. Winged Foot has a storied history of hosting national championship golf.  The 128th U.S. Open will mark the seventh time the championship has been held at Winged Foot.  It will also be the 14th USGA championship to be hosted by the club. During its 100-year history, the club has been the site of six U.S. Opens, two U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Women’s Opens, one U.S. Senior Open, one U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and one Walker Cup Match. In addition, Winged Foot hosted the 1997 PGA Championship. Since Winged Foot’s opening, both the West and East courses have been consistently ranked in the Golf Digest top 50 in the United States. The club recently completed a restoration of both golf courses and built a new state-of-the-art turf care facility, simulator building, and is currently doing restorations to Tee and Bunker complexes in preparation for the 2028 U.S. Open.  An Assistant-in-Training reports to the Director of Golf Courses and works alongside the turf management team to provide championship conditions on both courses daily. The ideal candidate must be motivated with the desire to advance in the golf course maintenance industry. The Assistant-In-Training will be responsible for proper fertilization and plant protectant applications, water management, project management, irrigation repair, participate in daily maintenance practices; and become familiar with John Deere GPS sprayers, SubAir systems, and the Rainbird Irrigation system.

Edgewood Country Club has had 5 Assistant Superintendents move on to Superintendent positions in recent years.   Established in 1898, Edgewood Country Club is a private club located in the east suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in Churchill. The bunkers were upgraded with new drainage and new sand in-house. Numerous renovations have been completed including: 6 new ladies tees, renovation of the 10th and 18th holes, removal of 4 bunkers, addition of 3 bunkers, fairway line reshaping, irrigation upgrades, beginning the use of autonomous mowers, and more.

We are looking for Highly Motivated Individual to fill an Assistant-In-Training role. This individual should have prior Golf Course Maintenance experience or Landscape Maintenance experience with the knowledge of Golf.   Ideal candidates should be highly motivated and show a desire to learn and grow in the position. They will be working alongside both the Superintendent and current Assistant Superintendent.
